About
Inner City Light was established in 2001 by Charles Angell as a project of Friends of the Arts (FOTA),
a Chicago based non-profit organization. Incorporated in December 2004, ICL's provides photographic and digital media
educational programs and life skills to Chicago Youth. While we do focus our efforts on students living in Chicago
public housing, ICL's Directors are committed to making our free services available
to all that interested.
ICL is a completely volunteer-run organization dedicated to facilitating Chicago youth in the development of their creative and analytical strengths. By utilizing community based art to bridge cultural differences, ICL helps students to realize
the importance of their role within society. By providing opportunities to interact
with creative professionals, students begin to see their potential to shape their community.
ICL student work is exhibited on our website and has been shown in a variety of venues in the greater Chicago area, including galleries, restaurants, educational institutions, and churches. We are committed to the exhibition process and work
to make ICL Imagery a vital apsect of Chicago Art.
