Inner City Light was founded on the a premise of: If you don't like it, then take
responsibility and help fix it. While this sounds great it can actually quite difficult
and demanding, and it's an approach that requires a willingness to dig in. But then,
we believe that's the essense of individual and communal success.

But such a willingness is only a part of the solution. Societal problems also require
consistent attention and community awareness. In such busy times it is challenging
to say the least to look beyond our own back yard. Yet that is precisely what must
happen. As concerned citizens we have to be able to see that the problems faced
by others do in fact come into our own homes, regardless of the distance between.
We simply can't hide from the widespread challenges faced by others. We can
however learn to work together to find support and resolution.
